The Best Patio Heaters (2026)
Propane towers, chimineas, and infrared heaters compared on heat output and coverage.
A patio heater buys you months of outdoor evenings. But the category splits into fundamentally different machines: propane towers that blast 46,000-plus BTU into a wide circle, wood-burning chimineas that heat by radiant fire, and electric infrared heaters that warm people, not air. Choosing wrong means paying for heat that drifts away or buying fuel logistics you did not want.
This guide compares four distinct approaches: the Amazon Basics propane tower, the Hampton Bay 48,000 BTU tower, the Bali Outdoors wood chiminea, and the Dr Infrared electric infrared heater. Every pick is evaluated against manufacturer specifications, retailer documentation, and published expert reviews. ThePickLedger has not hands-on tested these products.
