Ring light will not turn on or flickers? Four common causes and fixes.
Most ring light failures are power or connection issues. Run through these before assuming the LEDs are dead.
Light will not turn on
Check the power adapter is fully seated and the outlet works. USB-powered rings need a port that delivers enough current; try a wall adapter instead of a laptop port.
Flickering on camera
Lower the brightness slightly or change the camera frame rate. Cheap dimming circuits pulse visibly to cameras even when eyes see steady light.
Wrong color or green tint
Set white balance on your camera to match the light temperature. Auto white balance fights mixed lighting; lock it manually.
Stand keeps tipping
Extend the tripod legs fully and keep the ring centered over them. For 18-inch rings, sandbags on the legs add cheap stability.
