Wireless Earbuds Not Connecting? 4 Fixes That Work
Your wireless earbuds won't connect or pair? Try these four proven fixes before anything else.
Connection problems are the most common wireless earbud complaint, and most are fixed in under two minutes. Work through these steps in order.
Earbuds won't enter pairing mode
Place both buds in the case, close the lid for 10 seconds, then open it and hold the case button (or touch sensors) until the light flashes. Most buds only broadcast pairing signals for a few minutes after being removed from the case.
Phone can't find the earbuds
Turn Bluetooth off and back on, then check the previously paired devices list and tap "forget" on the old entry. Stale pairings are the most common reason a phone ignores buds that are ready to connect.
Only one earbud connects
Return both buds to the case, wait 10 seconds, and remove them together. If one bud still drops, clean the charging contacts with a dry cloth, as debris can prevent a proper reset.
Audio stutters or drops out
Move the phone to the same side of your body as the primary bud and away from Wi-Fi routers and microwaves, which share the 2.4 GHz band. If stuttering persists in one location, interference rather than the buds is usually the cause.
Questions, answered
Should I reset my earbuds to factory settings?
Only after the basic fixes fail. A factory reset clears all pairings and custom settings, so you will need to set everything up again afterward.
Why do my earbuds disconnect during calls?
Calls use a different Bluetooth profile that is more sensitive to interference. Moving the phone closer and disabling Wi-Fi calling handoff conflicts usually stabilizes it.
